Job description
McKinney Door Solutions (MDS) has been a commercial door and hardware supplier to the general contracting industry since 1955. The Controller is the senior finance and accounting leader and is responsible for all aspects of the finance function including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting & analysis, compliance and risk management.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the President in the design and execution of the strategic plan
- Lead the 4 member accounting team (Billing, A/R, A/P, Accounting Manager)
- Maintain chart of accounts, financial dimensions, and hierarchy within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
- Calculate all accruals and reserves for financial statements
- Prepare and review journal entries monthly and more frequently as needed
- Conduct monthly GL account reconciliation activities
- Track, evaluate, and account for inventory to include review of annual physical count procedures and results
- Generate monthly financial statements and month end close
- Ensure accounting records and financial statements are in compliance with GAAP
- Prepare monthly P&L and cash flow forecasts with analysis of actual performance relative to budget
- Prepare and present relevant financial and operational updates to President and Board of Directors
- Draft/revise, implement, and enforce internal control policies and procedures under auspices
- Manage all treasury activities wires, ACH, bank account sweeps, cash reconciliation, Positive Pay, etc.
- Ensure integrity of financial systems and databases
- Serve as audit liaison for annual audits
- Review weekly and biweekly payroll as prepared by Human Resources
- Review monthly sales tax returns
- Review property tax returns
- Other duties as assigned

Required;
- 5 or more years of relevant accounting and/or corporate financial experience showing progressive responsibility.
- 2 or more years building and leading an accounting and finance team.
- Strong cost accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Experience working for an organization in growth mode and/or merger & acquisition experience.
- Advanced user in Microsoft Office applications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA Preferred
